What assumptions about identity are\nimplicit in these images and that we may overlook? How do I relate to these\nimages? (I would also suggest\n     something other than what we talked about in class, to develop your own\n     ideas.)<\/li><li>Also,\n     regarding <em>Get Out<\/em>, you do not need to provide a detailed recap of\n     the film. Only include details that are relevant to your essay not a full\n     plot summary. I decided to\ntalk to my Nurse Manager about rapid response team and how it can be helpful in\nreducing increasing cases of the contraction of cardiac arrest by the\nin-patients and unexpected admissions to the ICU. I believed this could be of\ngreat help to the hospital. Researchable and answerable is a significant step\nin the Evidence Based Practice (Fineout-Overholt and Johnston, 2005).\nTherefore, my manger suggested that I conduct more research to find solid\nevidence on the contribution of rapid response team in healthcare system. This\nprompted me to formulate a clinical question.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Research Question<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I used PICOT (Patient\u2019s population, issue of\nInterest, Comparison, Outcome and Time) format to formulate a research\nquestion. My PICOT question was derived from the prevailing aspects of the\nclinical issue at my surgical unit. These aspects include the increased level\nof acuity among the hospitalized patients in the surgical unit, increased\nnumber of in-patients contracting cardiac arrest, unexpected admissions into\nthe ICU, and the intervention by the rapid response team. Since there was no\nteam to provide rapid response to such patients and the hospital was not planning\nto address the issue of patient\u2019s acuity prior to the impending crisis, element\nof the comparison (C component) in the PICOT was lack of rapid response\nteam.&nbsp; The outcomes or the results in the question were constant admission\ninto the ICU and in-patients contracting cardiac arrest.&nbsp; Other possible\noutcomes included prolonged hospitalization and deaths. My proposed picot\nquestion therefore was;&nbsp;<em>\u201cAmong the adult in-patients in the surgical\nunit, how does the presence of a rapid response team compared with the absence\nof rapid response team influence the cases of cardiac arrests among the\nhospitalized patients and the unexpected admissions to the intensive care unit\nfor patients hospitalized for three months?<\/em>&nbsp;In this question, the\ncomponents of PICOT include<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u00b7&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;\nPatient Population (P) &#8211; the adult in-patients<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u00b7&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;\nIssue of Interest (I) &#8211; the presence of a rapid response team<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u00b7&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;\nComparison(C) &#8211; the absence of rapid response team<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u00b7&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;\nOutcome (O) &#8211; influence the cases of cardiac arrests among the hospitalized\npatients and the unexpected admissions to the intensive care unit for patients<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u00b7&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;\nTime (T) &#8211; hospitalized for three months<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Literature Review<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;\nAccording to Stillwell et al. Evidence-Based Practice involves solving a\nproblem in the health care delivery system by integrating the available\nevidences from the data of the patients and studies with the expertise of\nmedical practitioners and values. From the above scenario, it is clear that\nvarious aspects affect personal experiences of patients throughout their stay\nin the hospital. Additionally, social aspects may influence and surpass\ncurative variables without necessarily involving antiretroviral measures.\nHowever, Melnyk et al. 2009 suggests that it is important for nurses and\nmedical practitioners to understand that the formulated question influences any\nattempt to find evidence to achieve a desirable outcome in patients so as to\nsupport a practical change.&nbsp; It is also evident from the previous studies\nthat Rapid Response Teams are the best weapon to curb cardiac arrests since\nthey evaluate the patients at an early stage of the disease thus reducing\nmortality rate (Dacey et al. 2007).
